Tangible Diffusion

This paper introduces a novel approach to artwork generation, combining tangible elements with AI generative models, resulting in a more engaging and immersive learning experience. With materials prepared by teachers, students can easily create digital artwork by manipulating tangible building blocks.

Sequential Manipulation Planning

By leveraging a virtual kinematic chain (VKC)-based motion planning framework that consolidates components' kinematics into one chain, the sequential manipulation task of a UAM can be planned as a whole, yielding more coordinated motions. We demonstrate an over-actuated UAM achieves a series of new sequential manipulation capabilities in both simulation and experiment.

Neighbor-environment Observer

In this paper, we propose a joint observation strategy for artificial agents to support users across virtual and physical environments. We introduce a prototype system, neighbor-environment observer (NEO), that utilizes non-invasive sensors to assist users in dealing with disruptions to their immersive experience.

Single-wheeled Modular Robots

This paper presents a novel modular robot system that can self-reconfigure to achieve omnidirectional movements for collaborative object transportation. Each robotic module is equipped with a steerable omni-wheel for navigation and is shaped as a regular icositetragon with a permanent magnet installed on each corner for stable docking.

L3 F-TOUCH

GelSight sensors that estimate contact geometry and force by reconstructing the deformation of their soft elastomer from images would yield poor force measurements when the elastomer deforms uniformly or reaches deformation saturation. Here we present an L3 F-TOUCH sensor that considerably enhances the three-axis force sensing capability of typical GelSight sensors.

LinkBricks

LinkBricks is a creative construction kit for intuitively creating and programming interactive robots towards young children. Integrating building blocks, a hierarchical programming framework and a tablet application, this kit is proposed to maintain the low floor and wide walls for children who lack knowledge in conventional programming.

WalkingBot

The WalkingBot provides a set of building blocks with sensors and actuators, enabling children to easily build a variety of legged robots. The highly integrated and automated system can interpret the structure of the robot and generate a corresponding control policy, such that the robot can walk around right after assembled.

TwistBlocks

TwistBlocks is a pluggable and twistable modular TUI that improves the accessibility of 3D modeling and animating by physical armature interaction. A set of software tools are provided for novice users to easily create, rig, and animate models.

PolyHinge

PolyHinge is a variable-form Tangible User Interface (TUI) that provides dynamic affordance and semantics and extends its malleability and mutability by enabling active shape-changing outputs. It can provide multistate geometric transformations in the physical world. PolyHinge is based upon extended structures of hinged dissections and connections.

Tangible Tetris

The Tangible Tetris is a mixed-reality interactive game, in which you can play with a physical transformable tetromino in a virtual playfield. The extension from game world to the physical brings plenty of new characteristics, strategies and fun to the classic game, as well as more possibilities in interaction art.

DUBIKE

DUBIKE is an early prototype of an smart bicycle in 2013, when IoT and BigData brings new trends into the market. It provides various of sensors, uploads data onto the cloud, and meanwhile provides instruction and navigation for the rider.

Tactile Screen

The tactile screen can turn digital image into tactile image, enabling blind people to get more information about the world of internet.
